STOPPER FOR PIG IRON TAP HOLE OF BLAST FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stopper for a pig iron tap hole of a blast furnace which enables both a long tapping of pig iron and stable operation of the blast furnace under a given condition. SOLUTION: This stopper for a pig iron tap hole of a blast furnace is a compound comprising conventional refractory materials and a binder. The refractory materials of a particle diameter of 20 μm or less characteristically account for 20-60 percent by mass of the materials and have the chemical composition comprising SiC of 5-80 percent by mass and Al2O3+SiO2 of 3-35 percent by mass.
