PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based ink composition for a plastic label capable of forming a printed water-based ink layer having high stability to water and an alkaline aqueous solution. SOLUTION: The water-based ink composition for a plastic label contains an epoxy compound and an epoxy hardener. The epoxy compound is preferably soluble or dispersible in water. An example of the epoxy compound is aliphatic polyol glycidyl ether. The epoxy hardener is e.g. an aliphatic amine.
