PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent for preventing a lost circulation of mud water, which has an excellent sedimentation property and can absorb water to a swol len state in a relatively short time, whereby a site losing the circulation of the mud water can effectively be blocked. SOLUTION: This agent for preventing a lost circulation of mud water is charged into a borehole on the execution of a mud water boring method, and is prepared by molding a mixture of (A) inorganic fine powder (for example, bentonite or clay), (B) a water-absorbing resin, (C) a fibrous material (for example, disintegrated waste paper), and (D) a gas-generating component (for example, sodium bicarbonate) in a desired shape.
