PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective structure for a painting face of a girder member preventing such a problem that the painting face of a girder member is damaged when chains hung from a scaffold comes into contact with the painting face in the girder members and the painted face must be repaired after construction, when a hanging scaffold is temporarily installed in the lower part of a member such as the girder member of a bridge. SOLUTION: A synthetic resin made painting face protection member 4 provided with a joint 5 having a width corresponding to the thickness of a bracing 3 and a pair of parallel holding plates 11 detachably put between both faces of the bracing 3 through the joint 5 is fitted to the bracing 3 getting into contact with the chain 7 hung from the scaffold of the girder member 1.
