A carrier for biological specimens includes one or more sealable holders of self-supporting construction, having a shape predetermined to receive therein a specimen container of a selected shape; and one or more covers configured for hermetically sealing the one or more holders holder so as to prevent leakage therefrom of liquid spilled therein.
