<p>The present invention pertains to a gene and the polypeptide encoded thereby mutations of which result in the development of schizophrenic symptoms. The present invention also relates to the use of said gene and its mutated forms for screening for biological active compounds having an impact on the development and/or existence of schizophrenia or related disorders in an individual and for the diagnosis for an individual's tendency to develop schizophrenic symptoms.
