Drugs and foods processed so as to effectively exert physiological activities, in case of orally administering physiologically active protein(s). Compositions for oral administration which contain one or more physiologically active proteins as the active ingredient and provided with a release- controlling means. Use of these compositions makes it possible to deliver at least 10% of the active ingredient to the lower digestive tract while sustaining the physiological activities. Since the physiologically active proteins are not digested in the stomach but delivered to the small intestine, it becomes possible to exert an effect which has been unknown so far or to ensure the achievement of an effect. Preferable examples of the physiologically active proteins contained in these compositions include lactoferrin, immunoglobulin, lysozyme, amylase, protease, lipase and digestive enzyme inhibitors.
