PURPOSE: Provided are an anode for a lithium-sulfur battery with high capacity, which can reduce the thickness of an electrode plate, and the lithium-sulfur battery containing the anode. CONSTITUTION: The anode contains a porous metal current collector having a porosity of more than 60% based on the total volume and an anode active material formed on the current collector and comprising a lithium metal or a composite material of lithium and inactive sulfur. And the lithium-sulfur battery contains the anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte having lithium salts and an organic solvent, wherein the cathode contains a cathode active material containing at least one sulfur-based compound selected from the group consisting of sulfur atom, solid Li2Sn(n>=1), Li2Sn(n>=1) dissolved catholite, an organic sulfur compound, and a carbon-sulfur polymer, an electrically conductive material, and a binder.
