PURPOSE: A plane light source apparatus and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to maximize luminance efficiency by improving electrode structure of a large scale mercuryless plane light source. CONSTITUTION: A plane light source comprises a first and a second cathodes(107,109), a lower plate(101), and a first to a third frit glasses(111,113,115) arranged at both sides of the first and the second cathodes(107,109). The first to the third frit glasses(111,113,115) are attached on the lower plate(101) by thermally melting. Each of the first to the third frit glasses(111,113,115) has a rectangular cross section. The bottom surfaces of the first to the third frit glasses(111,113,115) attached to the lower plate(101) are larger than the top surfaces of the first to the third frit glasses(111,113,115). The side surfaces of the first to the third frit glasses(111,113,115) are inclined to the lower plate(101) at 30 to 100°.
