PURPOSE: A voice recognition system using a computer and a method for controlling the same are provided to enable voice recognition regardless of voice or tone of a user, though a procedure of correcting a voice recognition pattern is not performed, and to automatically recognize a hyper link unit for page change if a voice command is received while executing Web browser. CONSTITUTION: In a voice processing unit(50), a voice recognizer(52) has a voice recognition engine, and a voice synthesizer(54) synthesizes character data stored in a read buffer to output a voice signal. A system control unit(30) digitalizes voice inputted through a microphone(40) for transmission to the voice processing unit(50) and controls a system according to a command recognized in the voice processing unit(50). The system control unit(30) delivers voice data transmitted from the voice processing unit(50) to a speaker(42) to output voice at a read mode, and inputs and outputs data to a mail server(44) and a Web server(46) over the Internet. The microphone(40) receives user's voice. The speaker(42) outputs voice for the read of contents output through the system control unit(30) at a read mode. Interfaces(32,34) deliver signals inputted/output from the microphone(40) and the speaker(42) to the system control unit(30), and intermediate between the system control unit(30), the mail server(44) and the Web server(46) over the Internet. And a voice database(60) stores voice words for recognition.
