PURPOSE: A discharge valve assembly of hermetic type rotary compressor is provided to minimize knocking between a discharge valve and a retainer. CONSTITUTION: An assembly comprises a discharge valve(11); a retainer(12); and a valve spring(13). The discharge valve is fixed on an outside surface of a cylinder(5) to open and close a discharge hole(6a) of the cylinder. The retainer is fixed to be placed on a back of the discharge valve to limit opening of the discharge valve. The valve spring is fixed to be interposed between the discharge valve and the retainer to buff opening of the discharge valve. The valve spring is formed to stop while keeping fixed gap with the back of the discharge valve. The strength of the valve spring is 20-70% of the discharge valve.
