PURPOSE: An apparatus for avoiding discharge of a car battery and a method thereof are provided to avoid discharge and improve durability of a starting motor and adjacent wires. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for avoiding discharge of a car battery comprises a Hall sensor(1), a relay(3), and a control unit(5). The Hall sensor(1) is arranged at a wire connecting from an anode of the battery(100) to an electronic switch(104) of a starting motor(106). The relay(3) is serially coupled to the starting switch(102) to the wire from the anode of the battery(100) to an S terminal of the electronic switch(104) of the starting motor(106). The control unit(5) operates the relay(3) based on a signal from the Hall sensor(1). The Hall sensor(1) measures current flowing through the wire. The control unit(5) has a threshold current preset based on temperature of an engine, surrounding temperature and humidity for comparing the measured current with the threshold current.
