<p>A method and system is provided for encrypting documents for transit and storage where the interactive end user has no direct responsibility and takes no action for creating, protecting, using or deleting an encryption key. A clear text document located on a client system is encrypted, and the cipher text document is transmitted from the client system to the encryption server system. At the request of the client system, a cipher text document stored on the encryption server system is retrieved, transmitted from the encryption server system to the client system, and decrypted.
