PIPERIDINE COMPOUNDS AND MEDICINAL USE THEREOF

A compound represented by the general formula (I) (wherein R is the same as defined in the description), an optically active isomer thereof, pharmaceutically acceptable salts of these, and hydrates of these. They have a high affinity for and are antagonistic to 5-HT1A receptors, and function to inhibit 5-HT re-incorporation. They are hence usable as, e.g., an antidepressant rapidly showing its antidepressant effect.
