The invention relates a process for metal coating polyester fabrics consisting in the roughening operation, in the first stage, with an alkaline solution comprising 450g/l ethylene glycol and 50 g/l sodium hydroxide and in a second stage with an acid solution comprising 18 g/l potassium bichromate, 910g/l sulphuric acid with a concentration of 30 %, between the two stages taking place a neutralization with 5g/ l concentrate sulphuric acid, a reduction with a solution of 10 ml/l hydrazine hydrate and a sensibilization, a chemical activation, a chemical coating and electrochemical coating in known per se conditions. Optimal adherence characteristics of the metal layers, coated on the non-conductive support, the increase of the duration of using the sensitizing solution and also the improvement of electromagnetic radiation shielding properties are ensured
