<p>The invention provides a tablet of compacted particulate detergent composition including organic surfactant, detergency builder and other constituents, wherein the composition of the tablet or a discrete region thereof consists of (i) from 1% to 15% by weight of disintegrant particles containing water-swellable, water-insoluble disintegrant material (ii) a balance from 85 to 99% by weight of further component particles and wherein the particle sizes and size distributions are such that: the mean particle size of the disintegrant particles (i) is not more than 1.4 times the mean particle size of the further component particles (ii); and at least 90% by weight of the further component particles (ii) have a size greater than 350Fm.The tablets have good disintegration and strength properties.</p> |
