Methods for treating mammals with botulinum toxin comprise administering at least one type of botulinum toxin to the mammal. The botulinum toxin may be administered in a composition having a polysacharide that stabilizes the botulinum toxin. The compositions administered to the mammals have reduced immunogenicity, and are preferably non-immunogenic. The methods may also be practiced with recombinant, or species-specific, serum albumins.
