[Classes 142 (i), 142 (ii), and 142 (iii).] Framework.-In looms having multiple bearings in the loom frames at each end of the driving shafts, the frames 6, 7, Fig. 2, are made box-shaped and accommodate in a dustproof manner the essential parts of the driving mechanism detailed below, while the main driving shaft 2 is mounted in a hollow cross member 1 connecting rigidly the loom frames. In alternative constructions, the frames are made with a central frame-like portion closed on each side by a cover having bearing projections for the pivots or shafts, or in halves each having bearing projections and bolted together to form the box-shaped frame. Driving arrangements.-The main driving shaft 2 driven through a clutch 4, Fig. 2, has two bearings in each frame 6, 7. Beat-up motions.--Two gear wheels 10, 10a, Fig. 2, on each end of the driving shaft 2 mesh with a pair of gear wheels 12, 12a between which are arranged cranks 14, 15 for operating the connecting-rods 16, 17. Picking-motions.--One of each pair of wheels 12, 12a, Fig. 2, gears with a wheel 21 or 22 on a shaft 23 having two bearings in each frame and carrying the picking noses 26, Fig. 3, for operating the picking levers 27 co-operating with the picking shoes 28, Fig. 1. Lays.-The lay swords are each mounted in two bearings 20 in the loom frames. Shedding-motions.-A shaft 37, Fig. 1, has two bearings in an extension 38 of one of the side frames, is driven by skew gears 35, 36 from the main driving shaft, and has grooved discs 42 in which work rollers 44 of levers 45 operating the healds 41 through mechanisms 46. Cloth beams ; take-up motions.-The shaft 29 of the cloth beam 30, Fig. 2, is mounted at each end in two bearings 31, 32 in the frames 6, 7, the transverse shaft 33, Figs. 2a and 3, of the cloth beam regulator 34 also being supported at both ends.</p> |
