PURPOSE: A washing machine and a method for controlling the washing machine are provided to increase convenience in use, a washing efficiency and an operation efficiency by downloading help information when new washing course or function is added according to a change of life pattern of a user or according to the user's demand. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine includes a load part(140), a key input part(100), a memory(160), a display(150), an interface(120) and a system micom(170). The load part has a motor, a water feed valve and a water discharge valve. The key input part allows a user to input various operation orders or set washer functions. The memory stores washer related information including new washing course and function. The display displays the washing functions, the washer operating condition and help information of new washing course or function. The interface exchanges data with an external device. The system micom controls the memory to store various washing information and help information transmitted from the external device through the interface, controls the display to display help information on the display according to the user's demand, and uploads the stored information to the external device. |
