PURPOSE: An internet phone method and apparatus for connecting a conventional telephone to a sound card is provided to perform telephone conversation through a conventional phone using a device for connecting the telephone to the sound card and a device for recognizing a callee telephone number. CONSTITUTION: An intermediate service provider side device(2) perform A/D(Analog/Digital) conversion, and connects a call to a computer system(5). If a user connects to the intermediate service provider side device(2), the user dials a callee telephone number. The dialed signal is converted into a digital signal in the intermediate service provider side device(2), and the converted digital signal is provided to a computer system(7) through an Internet network(6). The digital signal is converted into an analog signal through a box, and the analog signal is provided to a telephone(10). The telephone(10) provides the analog signal to telephones(11).
