PURPOSE: A shock-absorbing hood lock of a vehicle is provided to minimize the injury on a walker in a head-on collision by absorbing the shock applied to the part of the walker. CONSTITUTION: A shock-absorbing hood lock of a vehicle comprises a striker(2) fixed on the inner face of a hood(1), a latch(4) fixed on a portion of a radiator support panel, a shock sensor attached on the inner face of the hood to sense the shock applied to a walker in a head-on collision, a solenoid(120) selectively operated by the signal outputted from the shock sensor to release the combination of the latch and the striker, and a timer(130) to operate the solenoid for a specific time depending on the signal outputted from the shock sensor. With the separation of the striker from the latch, the hood moves downward. Therefore, the shock applied to the walker is minimized.
