APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SUPPRESSING CONDUCTED RADIO-FREQUENCY SIGNALS

An apparatus and a method is disclosed for suppressing or reducing radio frequency signals induced in a cable from a source such as a mobile phone antenna. The cable may be for an accessory such as a headset intended for "hands free" operation of the mobile phone. The apparatus includes means for generating at least one impedance discontinuity in the cable at a point intermediate the source of the signals on the cable and a location on the cable such as its termination at which it is desired to suppress the signals. The means for generating includes at least one transmission line operably connected to the cable at said point such that the discontinuity is generated substantially at a frequency at which it is desired to suppress the signals.
