The invention relates to a process for the purification of waste water resulting from the preparation of the sulfuretted hydrogen, especially at the heavy-water plants. According to the invention, the process initially consists in a stage of acidification-flash distillation of the waste water, when the pH correction at the value 2 with H2SO4 of 98% concentration is performed under mechanical stirring, for 45 min. and when the gases resulting from the hydroxide sodium solution are absorbed, for the sulphuretted hydrogen recovery, followed by a second stage, which improves the result of the desulphurizing reaction of the effluent resulting from the first stage, in this second stage the azote barbotage is continued for 60 min., in the reaction mass, under mechanical stirring and with the absorption of the sulphurous gases in hydroxide sodium solution, and finally, the last stage which involves the separation of the phases resulting after the waste water desulphurization and the elutriation for 15 min. of a sulpur precipitate that can be worked and dehydrated in order to be used as basic material for the preparation of sodium sulphide.
