摘要 PURPOSE: A nematic liquid crystal Fabry-Ferot wavelength variable filter and a method of fabricating the filter are provided to eliminate polarization dependence by using a two-domain structure according to optical alignment. CONSTITUTION: A nematic liquid crystal Fabry-Ferot wavelength variable filter is constructed in such a manner that transparent electrodes(3a,3b), the first and second reflection films(4a,4b), the first and second alignment films(5a,5b) are sequentially formed on the inner sides of two substrates(2a,2b), respectively and liquid crystal is injected into a space between the first and second alignment films. The first alignment film is a vertical alignment film in which liquid crystals are aligned perpendicular to the surface of the substrate. The second alignment film is a horizontal or vertical alignment film in which at least two pairs of domains are alternately arranged. Liquid crystals in one domain are aligned to perpendicular to liquid crystals in the other domain.
