The device has at least one transponder mounted on a model vehicle and at least one transponder reader. The transponder is a read/write transponder and contains at least one transponder writer. The read/write transponder can be reversibly fitted onto the model vehicle. Several read/write transponders can be fitted onto the model vehicle in defined locations.
