The fastening comprises a first unit (1) which has a cap (3) to which a first bracelet wire (4) is fixed. A push-button (5) for opening the fastening protrudes from an opening (6) in one flank (7) of the cap. The first unit slides along a second unit (2) in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet. The second unit comprises two strips folded back over each other and attached by one end to each other by a link (10). The first strip (8) has a hook (11) and a second end with an attachment for a second bracelet wire (12). The second strip (9) is attached by its second end by a link (13,14) to a catch (15) for the hook. The catch and push-button have indexing and positioning devices for adjusting and retaining the length of the fastening.
