The device has a coaxial upper and lower sensor wheels (32, 33) coupled to upper and lower shaft sections (12, 14) and with slots, at least one stimulation winding (26) for inducting eddy currents in the sensor wheels and at least one receiver winding for receiving a signal whose amplitude represents a combination of the magnetic field produced by the stimulation coil and the eddy current blocking effect of the sensor wheels. Independent claims are also included for the following: a power steering regulation system, a method of regulating such a system and a sensor wheel.
