The device has a light emitter array (4) and projects optical information generated by the array onto a surface at a distance from the projection unit. The array consists of individually controlable light sources (2). A collimator (5) of micro-optical elements (5a,5b) and a telescope lens (6) of optical elements (6a,6b) are arranged after the array in the light propagation direction. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of projecting optical information generated with a light emitter array, such as figures or pictograms, a computer program and a computer program product.
