Continuous measurement of the amount of material removed from the inner wall of a round bored recess during a material removal process by use of a laser interferometer

Method for measuring material removal during internal grinding or milling of a small bored recess (11) using an inserted grinder (14). During processing or grinding the distance between a fixed point (19) on the grinder (14) and the recess wall (111) is continuously measured using an interferometric method and is used as a measure for the amount of material removed from the bored recess. An Independent claim is made for a corresponding device for measuring material removed during milling, machining or grinding of the internal wall of a bored recess.
