Proof of authenticity of artifacts is established by measurements of artificial interference free physical characteristics (as disintegration constant, half life, disintegration series) of isotope markers. The energy level of a known concentration of a specific radio-active isotope, placed on the surface of an object, (eg. car) is measured at time T(o) and remeasured at elapsed time T(x). A collection of energy level data measured at any T(x) time renders it possible to compute back to T(o). Thus the length of an elapsed time period becomes known to establish whether an object is authentic or not. Care has to be taken that the isotopic marker should be environmentally safe (eg. of low activity). |
