Method for determining the surface properties of a parabolic mirror (40) in which a screen is placed between the focal point (20) of the mirror and the intersection of the normals from the mirror edges. The screen has a line image on it that is reflected by the mirror to a camera detector. The actual image is compared with an ideal image and from the differences, conclusions made about the mirror surface. The invention also relates to a device for implementing the above method.
