Electrical measurement device for connection to a polarizable probe has an input (1) to the probe that has a protection circuit (14) for reduction of the effects of stray capacitances and leakage currents. The device also has a current to voltage converter (5) that emits an output voltage that is equal to or less than the product of input current and programmable gain and a means for polarizing the input. In addition the device is electrically isolated from its surroundings. An Independent claim is made for a corresponding measurement system.
