PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device system having large capacity and high reliability and capable of reducing the heat generated by the high speed rotation of a magnetic disk medium. SOLUTION: A 2.5 in. magnetic disk medium 21 to be used for a magnetic disk device of a 2.5 in. shape coefficient is packaged in a housing 11 for a magnetic disk device of 3.5 in. shape coefficient, so that the weight of a spindle rotation part is reduced, load loss torque generated due to the rotation of the medium 21 is reduced and the current generated when a spindle motor 41 is rotated is reduced. It is also available to provide the housing 11 with a heat discharging fin 11a or the like, so that the rise of temperature in the housing 11 can be reduced.
