PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traverse-supporting system, a traverse-supporting device, and a portable terminal device allowing a pedestrian to easily know that the pedestrian is located in an area, where traverse information related to traversing can be received. SOLUTION: Communication devices 1b, 1b, etc., for constituting the traverse supporting device are continuously transmitting signal receivable area information, to indicate that the pedestrian carrying the portable terminal device 2 is located in an area, where traverse information related to traverse can be received. When the pedestrian P reaches the vicinity of an intersection, the portable terminal device 2 receives the signal receivable area information transmitted from the communication devices 1b, 1b, etc., and outputs a prescribed sound, based on the received receivable area information, so as to notify the pedestrian P that the pedestrian is within the area, where the traversing information is receivable. The pedestrian P, after finding out that the pedestrian is in the signal receivable area, operates the portable terminal device 2, so as to demand transmission of various sorts of traverse information, such as obstacle information and information, or if traverse is possible and obtained them.
