PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly start up a computer device. SOLUTION: There is prepared a chipset setting data area 14a wherein setting data on a chipset 15 controlling the performance of the computer device are stored so that they can freely be rewritten into setting data 12a of fixed default values. A forcible start-up switch 4 for switching whether or not the setting data are used as default values when the power source is turned on is determined to start up the device by setting the setting data 12a in the chipset 15 and also rewrite the data in the setting data area 14a into the setting data 12a when the setting data are used as the default values, but sets the data in the setting data area 14a in the chipset and starts up the device when they are not used as the default values.
