PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a landmark which makes it possible to perform environment recognition based upon visual recognition through image processing for a photographed image even in arbitrary positional relation with a robot. SOLUTION: The landmark is a nearly hemispherical structure and on its spherical surface, a specific color or/and a specific pattern in combination are formed. A material such as sponge and styrene foam is used to form the landmark which is highly safe even if a human collides, lightweight, and soft. Then the landmark is used while having its section of the hemisphere fitted to a flat surface such as a well surface, a floor, and a ceiling at home or in other operation environment by using the bottom surface. For example, a rubber sucker, a detachable adhesive, etc., are used to give no flaw to the wall surface.
