PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device capable of holding a contact condition of an electric wire with a lock spring stably even if a tension is given on the wire by enlarging the engaging margin of the lock spring with the wire more than in a conventional arrangement. SOLUTION: The terminal device includes a terminal plate 32 to be in contact with the electric wire 2 introduced into a tool body 1 through a wire inserting hole 12 provided penetrating the tool body 1, and the wire 2 is held pinchedly between the main piece 32a of the terminal plate 32 and a lock piece 33b provided at the lock spring 33. The terminal plate 32 has a coupling piece 32c where a fixing plate 32f is formed through a stepped part 32g, and it is arranged so that the part of the lock spring 33 abutting to the fixing plate 32f is positioned nearer the wire inserting hole 12 than that part of the coupling piece 32c confronting the tip of the wire 2. If the position of the lock spring 33 is made the same as in the conventional arrangement, therefore, the inserted amount of the wire 2 into the tool body 1 will be larger than in the conventional arrangement.
