The automatic starting and stopping control for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine sensors (11-15) to determine the operating conditions of the vehicle. The sensors are connected to a control circuit (30) for the starting (52,54) and stopping (50) circuits of the engine. The sensors include a vehicle speed sensor and condition sensors for the clutch position, engine condition and temperature.
