PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component mounting system, in which an electronic component mounting line provided with a plurality of mounting stages in series, can be constructed compact. SOLUTION: In the system electronic components are picked up by an electronic component transferring/mounting means from electronic component feeding sections 5A and 5B arranged in the side part of a transfer path 3 and are transferred and mounted on a board. In this system, the transferring/mounting means is constructed by a Y-axis table 7 driven by a linear motor, arranged in the direction crossing the direction of transferring the board at right angles, two X-axis tables 8A and 8B moved in the direction, crossing the direction of transferring the board at right angles by the table 7 and being able to be operated independently, and transfer heads 9A and 9B mounted on the table 8A and 8B to be moved in the direction of transferring the substrate. Thus, the dimension in the direction of transferring the substrate can be made as short as possible, and the line provided with a plurality of stages in series can be constructed to be compact.
