PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a housing of a portable information terminal which can maintain its strength even when the portable information terminal is made lightweight and thin, its reinforcing method, and the portable information terminal using it. SOLUTION: The housing 1 of the portable information terminal is provided with a reinforcing ribs 5-1 and/or reinforcing metal fixture 11-1 disposed radially from corner parts A and B on the front side of a user. In a preferable mode, an EMI contact finger is provided inside the reinforcing fixture and, further preferably, the part of the housing where the reinforcing metal fitting is arranged is a part where a keyboard unit is mounted; and the base plate of the keyboard unit and the EMI contact finger comes into contact with each other when the keyboard unit is mounted on the housing.
