PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a flash lamp which prevents a short- circuit fault of a diode for backflow prevention provided at an entrance of each luminescent circuit of a plurality of flash lamps from affecting other luminescent circuits. SOLUTION: A common charging circuit which has a plurality of luminescent circuits structured with a flash lamp, a main capacitor supplying luminescent energy, and a diode preventing backflow at lamp lighting, and which supplies charging-current to the main capacitor through the diode, a means to stop temporarily a charging operation against each luminescent circuit in the charging operation from the common charging circuit to the luminescent circuit, a means to detect an anode side potential of the diode containing all the luminescent circuits in a temporarily stopping condition of the charging operation by this stopping means, and a means to find diode faults based on this detecting signal, are provided. |
