PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance integrated density of electrochemical cells and utility efficiency of space to lighten stress due to expansion.shinkage of the cell attendant on temperature rise or down upon starting or suspending. SOLUTION: The electrochemical apparatus is equipped with a peripheral wall, a solid electrolyte layer 15 provided on the inner side of the peripheral wall, a plurality of first electrodes 16A-16J provided on one side of the solid electrolyte layer 15, and a plurality of second electrodes provided on the other side of the solid electrolyte layer and respectively forming electrochemical cells together with the respective first electrodes. In the vicinity of the peripheral wall, are provided a first gas feed hole 3a, a first gas discharge hole 3B, a second gas feed hole 4a and a second gas discharge hole 4B. First gas passages 13A, 13B communicating with the feed hole 3A and the discharge hole 3B, respectively, are formed on one side 14a of the solid electrolyte layer. Second gas passages 18A, 18B communicating with the feed hole 4A and the discharge hole 4B, respectively, are formed on the other side 14b of the solid electrolyte layer. |
