PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents reproducing device which reproduces contents such as a CM in a specific period when a viewer is not disturbed and at specific timing when advertising effects on the viewer can be expected and to obtain a display method. SOLUTION: This contents reproducing device 100 is a device which receives program data (hereafter called 'program contents') composed of video, sound, etc., and reproduces the received program contents, stores advertisement data (hereafter called 'advertisement contents') composed of additional information such as an advertisement and a message other than the program contents, specifies a program in which the stored advertisement contents are not supposed to be reproduced while reproducing the program contents, and suppresses reproduction of the advertisement contents while reproducing the program contents belonging to the specified program.
