PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mantle of combustion type lantern disusing empty burn ing, with extraordinary strength and stable shape when compared with conven tional one, and disusing lamp chimney. SOLUTION: The mantle 1 of a combustion type lantern is composed of wire or thin plate made of platinum group metal or platinum group metal alloy with very high melting point, hardly oxidize, stable when heated in the air, full of processibility, and irradiates strong white light at incandescence.
