The guide system for the door (P) comprises a guide arm (12) with first (14) and second (16) ends which are pivoted between two door opening and closing angular positions. They pivot about an axis (I) carried by the door and about an axis (II) carried by the vehicle bodywork. The pivoting axis (II) of the second end of the arm is fitted in a housing (20) in the bodywork (C) so as to be offset towards the vehicle interior relative to the door plane.
