4-(Biphenylcarbonylamino)piperidine derivatives (I) are new. 4-(Biphenylcarbonylamino)piperidine derivatives of formula (I) and their salts are new. Z = biphenyl optionally substituted on position 2', 3', 4', 5', and 6' by at least one trihalomethyl or trihalomethoxy; Het = quinolyl, quinoxalyl or pyridyl (optionally substituted by at least one halo, CN, NO2, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy, 1-6C thioalkyl, OH, COOH or 1-6C alkoxycarbonyl). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) intermediate compounds of formulae (II) and (VI) and (2) preparation of (I).
