PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a satellite communication system where a present station and a spare station can smoothly be switched when the present station breaks down and the reduction of a frequency band that can be used by the guard band of a pilot signal is prevented. SOLUTION: The pilot signal 27 is always transmitted in the spare station 2 apart from the present station 1. The pilot signal which the self-station transmits is received and automatic frequency control/automatic transmission power function are previously operated. Thus, the present station is smoothly switched to the spare station when the present station breaks down. Pilot signals 25 and 27 used in the respective earth stations 1 and 2 are allocated adjacently to sound signals. Consequently, the guard band 6 is made to be small as far as possible and the usable frequency bands are increased. |
