PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of easily an resetting image pick-up condition at picking up an arbitrary image. SOLUTION: A sample image register 28 of a system controller 26 takes an image that user wants out of a recording medium 22 and houses it in a sample image holder 34 together with an image pickup condition. An image pickup condition setting part 33 lists up a plurality of sample images held in the sample image holder 34 on an LCD 9, and sets the image pickup condition corresponding to a selected sample image when the sample image is selected by the user among the listed sample images. If the set image pickup condition is modified, a simulation part 29 simulates with the sample image to reflect the modification, and the result is displayed on the LCD9.
