PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium for recording a utility program which controls peripheral units (printers) from one utility. SOLUTION: The utility holds the name of the object machine kind product of the peripheral unit, obtains the product name of the peripheral unit which is connected when a personal computer(PC) is started and compares them. The utility stores and manages the product name as a WildCard or gives an extender to the product name so as to store and manage it. Comparison is performed by referring to the WildCard or the extender in the case of comparison so that the PC or the peripheral unit is prevented from being frozen so as to improve processing efficiency. |
