METHOD FOR DRIVING EL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving an electroluminescent(EL) display which makes false contours hardly visible. SOLUTION: A method is presented for driving the EL display having a plurality of pixels each of which has a first thin film transistor(TFT), a second TFT, a third TFT and an organic electroluminescence device. In a single frame period, n+m display periods (both n and m are natural numbers) appear. The n+m display periods correspond to any 1-bit digital video signal among n-bit digital video signals, respectively, and any of a plurality of display periods of the n+m display periods correspond to the same bit of the digital video signal. A display period corresponding to the other bits of the digital video signal appears among the n+m display periods during a plurality of display periods.
